Last night Caleb finally lost his first tooth. He's been wiggling it for weeks now. Jocelyn gave it a good wiggle and then Caleb popped it out with his tongue. He was so excited.
We put it under his pillow for the tooth ferry and waited.
We were hoping the Tooth Ferry left something more than just a quarter. We thought it would be cool if losing a tooth somehow pointed to God and reminded Caleb of how much God loves him.
So the Tooth Ferry wrote this poem and left it with a quarter and a small cross.
Where one tooth died, another one grows;
Another small way that our father shows,
Truly how far His love for us goes,
And what He did do so that everyone knows.
He came to our world so tiny and pure,
And lived His life perfect, we can be sure,
But died on the cross, sins problem to cure,
And give us new life and heaven secure.
He did not stay gone long; He rose by God’s grace,
And promised in heaven He’d prepare us a place,
Where all of life’s troubles He would surely erase,
And replace them with smiles on everyone’s face.
So grin in the mirror and remember today,
As you look at the hole where your old tooth did stay,
To be proud of the truth that your smiles display,
No matter how hard it might be to say…
That “God started something quite special in me!
And if you look at my smile you will easily see,
A brand new creation as strong as can be,
That God plans to care for eternally."
