an email to my sister i decided to let you all in on...

my sister lived downtown for several years before moving to Australia and knows the city and fun spots to be. So when our friends Matt and Jessica came from Cincinnati to see us I called Amy to get some good recommendations for the evening. She emailed me details on where to park, what not to miss (the Hancock building), and where to get great food at a reasonable price with EXCEPTIONAL service! Amy used to work at Bistrot Zinc and has friends who still work there! She even spared me with walking directions to each location!

So i began to email her and let her know what a wonderful time we had when i decided i wanted to share our experience with all of you. so here goes my email to my sister, for all to share!

amy!
you are the BEST!!!!! thank you soooo much! we had an awesome time! wished so much you and Damain were there with us! and at the same time had this funny feeling you were living vicariously through me the entire evening :o)

what a blast. we drove down, valet parked (perfect idea) walked to the hancock, settled for a seat about 3 rows from the windows, ordered our drinks and as the last drink was ordered i spotted someone by the window leaving, stood up, and swiped the table as they were leaving. we had already seen another table hop and grab the first window table that came available while we were ordering so i had been on the look out! that was beautiful, i had a sky high martini (rasperrby absolut, hazelnut liquor, ?) it was excellent! the mckees got chocolate martini's and peter his guiness. thanks for the warning it was expensive! ouch! but soooo worth it, what a magnificent site! it is definitely a must do when visiting the city. then we headed back to Bistrot Zinc and as i walked in i was greeted by Michael, the host. He said, are you Amy's sister? He said he wasn't really good friends with you but knew you from work. He took us to Dave's section (cecily had the night off). Dave came up to our table, and inquired if i was your sister, that he saw a resemblence. We got reaquainted and our experience at Bistrot Zinc began. I felt like I was famous, getting superb service and everyone already knowing who I was! We asked lots of questions, just like you said, got Dave's favorites on everything. We enjoyed a bottle of wine, chevre with sun dried tomatoes, poussin with bacon, mushrooms, onions an egg noodles, french onion soup, apple tart and chocolate crepe dessert. Matt got the rack of lamb and Jessica got a salmon/spinach special. We all had an awesome time. oh yeah, and how could i forget our discount on the bill and gift certificates for our next visit! Dave was amazing! Thanks so much for sharing your city with me!

sorry no pics, i forgot my camera!

I was at the Zinc once & yes it was awesome!
The Hancock is also amazing.
Sounds like you had a GREAT time. Amy knows all the fun places of Chicago. Can't wait for her to come back & we can go discover more of her intimate out of the way places.
Yea!
