Day 2 with Micaiah

Today has been a wonderful day. We have been blessed with the most wonderful, good natured, beautiful little girl in the world. Micaiah woke up in the best mood. We cuddled and played on the bed for almost an hour. She’s very ticklish and loves to play little gotcha games. She devoured (literally) a few children’s books and played with some link toys we brought with our pictures in them. While we don’t think she’s been on much of a schedule, she’s settled into a familiar two nap, every four hour feeding routine that’s been really comfortable for us. It’s adorable how she falls asleep within minutes of starting her bottles. I don’t think she’s been awake for a single one! She generally wakes up after sucking air for a few minutes though. As for nap time and bed time, she’s a mover and bouncer. I (Pete) was a bit worried that he’d have to be gentle with her but the faster and more bouncy the better! Unfortunately for mommy, Micaiah is not much for patting.
While visiting, we’ve gotten to be friends with another mom from Cincinnati who is adopting a little boy (Xavier) Micaiah’s age. We joined them for lunch and have been visiting with them regularly. There’s also another family here from Wisconsin who is adopting a 4 month old little boy. The mom reminds us so much of Jocelyn’s aunt Renee. After lunch, Jocelyn went shopping and Micaiah and Daddy had nap time. Afterward, Micaiah and I shared a first – I did her hair. I combed it and put bows in it and we laughed and giggled together. This little girl stuff isn’t as tough as I imagined (yet). Later on we did bath time and tried on some new outfits Jocelyn bought. She looks so beautiful in each of the twenty-some shades of pink we now own. We did a quiet dinner in the room this evening and Micaiah’s been asleep in one of our arms since about 7:00. It’s so hard to put her down.
