We received our DNA results on Tuesday and have been working like mad to get to Guatemala today! We arrived at 12:30, went to our hotel, and waited. About 3:00 Juliet, Micaiah’s foster mom, and Pedro, the interpreter arrived with our baby girl! She is more beautiful than you could ever imagine! She is soooo tiny, despite the pictures she is a little girl. She seems long to us. She is oooh so sweet. When I met her in the lobby, I said hello to Julia, took her into my arms, and cried like a baby. I looked at her and smiled and she smiled at me and daddy video taped it! Then we went to the room and daddy got his turn. She wasn’t quite as excited to see him or me for that matter. Juliet fed her a bottle and she fell asleep. We asked Juliet lots of questions and when Juliet left we just watched her sleep until she woke up. She was a bit fussy so we decided to tour the hotel, she loved that. We are required to stay on the property because she is not officially ours yet. So we sat poolside and walked around the beautiful gardens just admiring our precious baby girl. Micaiah is just sooo precious, we are so very grateful for this opportunity. We are having a blast and looking forward to continuing the spoiling she has been receiving the past 5 months. Juliet seems like a wonderful foster mom! It was hard to express how grateful we are to her, although Peter has sharpened up on his Spanish amazingly quickly. He chatted with the shuttle driver from the airport to the hotel with little problems, I was impressed.
Oh yeah, once we got here we had about ½ hour before Micaiah was expected to arrive. We took a quick tour of the area. We found a “farmacia” that has everything we could ever need for Micaiah, a McDonalds, a few restaurants, and a few gift shops. Then we had to quick get back to meet our baby girl.
