usual breakfast, followed by a bath. we missed one last night, and they all needed one. So I thought, I will go ahead and get the kiddos in the bath, wash em up and let em play as long as they like. I washed hair and bodies they were all as clean as could be...but not for long. Elijah pooped in the tub!!!! Three wet kids out of the tub, two standing cold in the bathroom, scrounging around for the potty seat, third kid finally on the potty. now we scoop poop out, drain the tub, clean the tub, three kids one by one, back in the tub for another wash. ahhh we are done. three clean kids, we are good to go. (oh yeah and my sister called from Australia during the pooping scene, so of course, I am talking to her, and passing the phone around to the kids so they can chat while I scrub...).
Micaiah is cranky so I decide she needs an early nap today, down she goes and thank GOD for the next 2 hours she slept...
meanwhile, Caleb asks to paint the rocks he found at the park yesterday. one for him and one for Elijah. Great idea. Micaiah is asleep, Henry and Allie aren't here yet, they will keep busy as I chat with my sister and I'll just sit right here and keep and eye on them, perfect timimg, or so I thought. Painting goes well, rocks look beautiful,
then the boys want to paint on the concrete.
we switch to "sidewalk paint" and they are good to go. I chat on the phone, then realize Elijah has taken one of the bottles of "washable" thank GOD, tempera paint and squirted a fist size pile on the concrete. ok no big deal, they paint away, Elijah using the brush. then Caleb begins to use his hands, ok it's washable, I can handle that. Then I run inside for who knows what and when I come back out Elijah is also using his hands and knees, crawling and painting, and walking through the paint, he is covered. oh well, I'll just wash them up.. I wash one had, decide I need to take a picture, he rubs his clean hand onto the dirty one, and well, I got a good picture!
Caleb insists he needs some hot water to "bake his bread" (the paint pile). he goes in the house and comes out with a cup of hot water. I told him that was not a good idea. he poured it on the pile of paint, I mean bread, anyway. so painting is done, I spray the driveway down with the hose, Henry and Allie come. We move to the other half of the driveway, I draw track and give them chalk and blocks and ask them to stay there while the driveway dries off.
Into the house, to clean up paint buckets, brushes, breakfast dishes, and get ready to make lunch. 3 dishes away from a clean kitchen and I smell a dirty diaper, it's Allie. no biggie, after all I do run through a few diapers each day, at least 10 when Henry and Allie are here. I'll finish these three dishes and hop to that dirty diaper, then on to making lunch. Then Allie starts making funny noises and she won't move. Her diarrea leaked out her diaper, down her pants, and onto the floor. Apparently I hadn't completed my poop quota for the day, so off to the tub to wash Allie down. After she is clean I realize her dad left her bag of clothes and diapers outside when he dropped them in the back yard this morning. So I set Allie on the kitched floor in a towel so I can get the bag. As I get to the door I decide I better clean up the poop before some kid walks in here and steps in it. I clean up poop, and pee. yep Allie peed on the floor while waiting for me to get her clean diaper and clothes. Finally, Allie is all dressed, and things are looking up. It's 11:30 and time to make lunch.
It was an enjoyable afternoon, quite peaceful considering the mornings events. However, I still had not met the poop quota, Micaiah had a leaky poopy diaper too!
needless to say, I have a little laundry to do today :o)
what a day!
during lunch Elijah said, we forgot to pray. so we prayed, I thanked God for the gift of laughing at the days events.
sooooo, anyone out there interested in being a stay home mom, it's a cinch!

There is another bright side.. at this age soap & water takes care of the problems, wait until they become teenagers - just ask Pete! (And thanks for not including any pictures with this post :) )
What a poopy story!!!!! I remember similar days with twins and another one just 1 1/2 years younger. If I had made a pie graph of how I spent my day, the biggest piece of the pie would have been changing diapers and cleaning up poopies! It is an occupational hazard! (Anybody report this to OSHA????)
