What I'm learning while Jocelyn is away...

Ok, one week down and 10 days to go.
So far I have loved every minute with my kids. However, each minute comes with a lesson and a much deeper understanding and appreciation for moms and wives - especially mine.
So... here's what I've learned.

- Babbies have an internal clock that knows when is the most inopportune time to poop.
- One must check the cart, the kids hands and the kids pockets before leaving a grocery store.
- Recipe cards are written entirely in hieroglyphics or kitchen short hand and preparation time must be doubled for a man.
- When running out of time because of man-lag in preparation, increasing the temperature does not make the meal cook faster... only browner.
- Shoes hide.
- Socks too.
- Laundry is an eternal black hole.
- I don't have to be as cunning as that Sneaky Chef character, kids will eat anything if you cover it in enough cheese or butter.
- If a mom sits down for one minute she'll easily lose an hour.
- The bathroom is the safest place to be... and yet, it's still not sacred.
- It's really hard to clear my mind of all the family stuff at the end of the night, keeping all the schedules and demands straight is tough!
- Some days really do merit all day pajamas!
- Some days really do merit a mid afternoon latte.
- Moms really do deserve great cars, they spend half their lives in them!
- My work bench really is a convenient place to stash things in transition.
- One really can't have enough Tupperware, Rubbermaid bins or laundry baskets.
- A clean kitchen really is essential to a sound mind.
- Genesis was right,... it's not good for man to be alone, I need my helper.

I can't wait to have my better, braver, stronger and more versatile half back.

Great that you are keeping a sense of humor about your role change! I enjoyed the early morning (it's Saturday!) chuckle. See you for dinner tonight.

Hey Pete,
We know a great Tupperware lady (I-59)should you need anymore storage containers!! We are enjoying your blogs, and yes, laughing more histerically with each blog entry :-}
Jocy - Amy,
I was by Gma/Gpa yesterday over my lunch hour..she was "reading" her memories book. I told of your vacation and families (while we looked at your individual pictures) ...and she said that she should come and visit. After all, she is the one who taught us about BUMMIN'! Priceless moments -- enjoy!
